Cirrus Logic grew out of Patil Systems, a Salt Lake City-based startup Patil founded in 1981. Prior to Patil Systems, he was an associate professor of computer science at the University of Utah where he started the VLSI group and worked on design methodology for complex integrated circuits. From 1970 until 1975, Patil was assistant professor of electrical engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. While at MIT, he also served as assistant director of Project MAC (Multi-Access Computer), the largest computer science laboratory in the U.S, where the time-sharing computer system was developed. At MIT, he worked in the area of Computer Architecture and related topics.

Over the years, Dr. Patil's work has covered computer architecture, parallel processing computers, mathematics for computer science, design methodology for very large integrated circuits and IC design automation software. He has over 40 scientific papers covering these areas of research and he is also the recipient of several patents in the field of integrated circuits.

Dr. Patil has a B. Tech (Honors) in electronics and electrical communications from Indian Institute of Technology in 1965, an MSEE from MIT in 1967, the doctor of science (EE) from MIT in 1970, and an honorary doctor of science degree from Indian Institute of Technology in 1995. Before Comport, Ramesh was founder and President of Omek Flexible Disk Drive, which was acquired by Satya Electronics in India. He has also held management positions at Quantum, Read-Rite and Iomega. Ramesh received a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the Bihar Institute of Technology, and holds a Master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Santa Clara. He is also a charter member of The Indus Entrepreneur Group (TIE).

Ram Natarajan

Vice President, Systems Software

Ram Natarajan has over 17 years of experience in video/image processing, cryptography, speech signal processing. Most recently, he has worked on parallelization of realtime video and image processing algorithms onto multi-core DSPs. Before joining Cradle, he was the Vice President of Software Engineering at Stradient, a silicon valley startup. Mr. Natarajan received his Master's degree in Communication Engineering from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

David Harrison

Vice President, Software Development

Cradle Fellow

David Harrison has over 25 years experience in leading complex software development projects and developing advanced architectures. He developed and deployed the first computer system on a North Sea oil platform, the first CODASYL database management system, the first systolic processor, the first expert system that reasoned 3-dimensional geometry, and the first CPLD software that optimized for three-levels of logic. Most recently, Mr. Harrison was director of software development at Xilinx where he led a software team providing tools for the 9500 series of products. Mr. Harrison joined Xilinx when it acquired Plus Logic, where he was vice president of software operations. Mr. Harrison received a Master of Arts in Natural Sciences in 1974 from Cambridge University.
