enVigil - a Networked Video Server for Surveillance

Cradle Technologies (Cradle) design, develop and manufacture video server appliances for video surveillance industry. Cradle's enVigil is a high performance video server family. enVigil supports up to 32 cameras per server and is available in 4, 8, 16 and 32 ports. enVigil is especially useful for securely monitoring multiple locations from a single control centre. Some typical examples are remote monitoring of multiple factories, hospitals, Shopping complexes, multiple bank locations and ATM locations from single/multiple remote locations

enVigil networked video surveillance server are different from run-of-the-mill DVRs and NVRs. Here are the differentiators.

Encrypted access: Most other DVRs and NVRs do not encrypt the video when you view it on the Internet. Anybody on the Internet with sufficient networking knowledge can look at your video! With enVigil, we use state of the art VPN technology to provide you with the same level of encryption that you use when you operate your bank account. With enVigil, you can be sure that your video is secure.

Excellent remote viewing experience
: We estimate the available bandwidth with your Internet connection and change the viewing experience accordingly. So if you are at the airport or at your home, you can be guaranteed that you will get the best viewing experience that the Internet link can support. Most other DVRs and NVRs stream JPEG over TCP, and with this you can only hope to see 3-4 frames/sec if you are lucky. With our streaming technology, you can get up to 10 frames/sec with high quality MPEG4 video.

Audio on all cameras: Most other DVRs and NVRs do not provide audio for every camera. With enVigil servers, audio recording is available on all cameras.

High quality storage: We use our own in-house designed hardware encoder chips (CT3600) to give you the best quality MPEG4 or H264 encoded video. The encoded streams are standard compliant. This means that you can export the video and play it with popular media players. Most other DVRs and NVRs claim standard compliance, but ask them to playback their video on popular media players and they usually fail. Why is this important? You don't have to send a player with every video clip that you send to your client. With standard compliant video clips, you just need to send just the clip!

Ease of installation: If you are an end customer, with NVRs and DVRs that require network access, the installer will spend a lot of time setting up your router for remote access. This is mostly because installers do not understand networking technology. This is increased cost to you. With our systems, we configure the routers automatically* making it very easy to install.

Single client interface: With typical DVR and NVR systems, you will have to learn two different ways to access the machine - one at the local machine and one for the Internet. In our case, both the remote and local access is made through the same piece of software. Also, whatever changes that can be made locally can also be made remotely from the Internet.

Multiple location access: You can access multiple sites from a single client computer securely. That is, each connection to a site is a separate VPN connection and each connection is separately encrypted. This feature is only available with enVigil servers.
